Grants

Application Guidelines

Presently the Foundation is not seeking applications for funding, and does not respond to unsolicited inquiries or applications.

It is considered a conflict of interest for an organization to receive a family grant in which a family member has any financial reimbursement directly tied to the grant.

The Flavelle Family Foundation has in place at this time, procedures for two types of funding grants to registered charities:

1
Matching Grant

This is a grant matching any individual family member’s personal donation from $50 to $3,000 CAD a year to a registered Canadian charity.

2
Family Grant

For this grant, the Flavelle Family Foundation only accepts and considers grant applications with both of the following two criteria;

  1. Ontario-based organizations successfully registered as a charity by the Canada Revenue Agency
  2. Organizations that have been invited to apply and are championed by a Foundation family member

At this time Family Grants are typically for $5,000, with some variation for special circumstances, as determined by the Foundation.

Grant Decisions

The Flavelle Family Foundation’s executive meets, typically, twice a year to review grants (spring and fall), to oversee the review process and determine which grants will be approved. At its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the spring, all grant applications whether successful or not, are reported to the full family membership.
